Some of the humor may have been just above their heads. I came across this book whilst working in a Reception class in school. I loved the hilarious twist which should bring out giggles all round. However, when the shoe Floyd throws to dislodge the kite also gets stuck, he starts down a slippery slope that has him chucking everything from his mailman to a blue whale at the tree.


Read this in 3rd and 1st classes. I expected certain things to follow the kite coming out of the tree and they did not happen, so: This was a quirky story that became more and more ridiculous.
