I would recommend this book to everyone because it has a good story. The youth group is filled with young boys who are constantly on the go, talking, yelling, and fighting the whole way to the canyon where they are to camp.
I enjoyed the story line of a kid named Brennan living an overall normal life, only to be faced with the challenge of finding a skull with a bullet wound in it while on a camping trip.
The random coincidences came together too perfectly, it was annoying and predictable. Classic, but not as good as when I read it as a teen; I can’t remember why it resonated with me so much. He is determined to find out how to make himself stop feeling so crazy and believes the skull is behind it. Paulsen is normally a good writer. His mother’s latest boyfriend is Bill, a cznyons guy in charge of a youth group.
